I just had heart surgery and I can't ride in the SLK230 with the airbags active for like six weeks! Can they be temporarily turned off? I see there is a light indicator window above the passenger window switch. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated - Jimmy:rb

I had a quick look in the owner's manual and it says that it can be done, but doesn't say how. It says that a dealer can do it upon written request for a fee...

Surely there's an easy way. Dan may know.

Need a dealer to do that, you might struggle to get them to do it even with written consent because they will be afraid you might sue them.

SRS Pass disable

I'm looking at all the fuses to see if there isn't one just for the passenger side. Also, I know that alot of companies use a seat sensor which auto maticaly activates the system for the passenger compartment. I'm a cop and have seen MB's in crashes, and both systems do not deploy if there's not a passenger. It says in the owners manual that there is an infant seat from MB that has a transmitter in it which deactivates the pass. SRS. So, maybe I can find the baby seat on ebay and tear the transmitter out and put it in the ashtray? :biglaugh:

Nah sorry mate the SRS system is powered as a whole, i don't know if the 170 has child seat recognition but if it does it will only work for the passenger side of the car and only if the sensors are in contact with the seat.
