My Benz is throwing code p0705. (transmission range sensor)

I can move shifter to PRND , display still shows the gear I put it in, but car will not shift gears. I do not feel driveline kick in when I move shifter through gears but, my car will roll.(my driveway is on an angle) its like it only shifts to neutral.

TCU had fluid in it so cleaned it with quick dry electric contact cleaner.
For good measure I will be replacing the trans plug adapter today..

Is this problem the transmission adapter plug, the shifter unit or the transmission range sensor.. Thank You

Hi and welcome from the UK Midlands! :)

I'm afraid I can't help with your transmission issue... If you know which transmission it is (I'm guessing not the 7G, but perhaps something prior to that), then add that here and someone who knows more than I do may be able to help. :D

Morning ,....

Not familiar with the SL, but it does sound like the mechanical linkage from the shift lever to the transmission has become disconnected

On the SLK, the base of the shift lever houses all of the electronics so the car 'thinks' its in a particular gear - the lever has a mechanical connection to the side of the transmission which does the physical bit ..
Check the base of the shifter and from underneath the car if the shift lever feels loose or sloppy ....
