Our black 2003 SLK230 just pulled the "start error" trick on us!
And, it was two levels deep in an underground parking garage, Galleria Dallas.
Tow truck too tall to carry the car out. Used our Acura MDX and a chain to tow up to street level so it can be put on the truck and taken to Mercedes dealer.
Called the 1-800 number in 20-year old glovebox, and a pleasant lady with Mercedes roadside assistance named Alexandra summoned a tow truck that was there in 15 minutes, no charge when taken to dealer. I thanked her profusely and we are on the road to a solution. The sick car will be back in action, probably by next weekend.
Funky stuff can happen to all cars, it's how we utilize a great support system that makes the difference in ownership experience.
