Help: How to access the fiber-optic amplifier in the trunk?

Hi,

I'm trying to install a S160 audio unit in my SLK200 car. With help and some obvious facts I realized that the car (Audio APS 50) is using fiber-optic amplifier in the trunk. Which I need to disconnect and remove.

The question, (it's very stupid question): how can I access that amplifier in the trunk? I mean, I see only the black plastic covers everywhere. Is there some manual to explain how to remove them or what tools I need to acces the amplifier and connections? I guess is on the sides or in the bottom center but I would need some guidance please.

I'm a bit blind now. The only thing obvious I can do in the trunk is to remove the cover for the tire fit compartment.

Thanks a lot.
Ray.

You're looking in the wrong place!!

The Audio Gateway (AGW) is in the passenger footwell - the only thing in the trunk thats audio related is the DVD Drive for Navigation and Sirus stuff, if you have those options

Lift the carpet back at the front of the passenger footwell (the bit where your feet are, at 45 degrees, and you'll see a grey foam pad. Remove this, and you'll see the electronics bay cover - there are 3 (I think) plastic nuts, two on the floor and one one the centre of the panel - remove these and you'll get to the AGW

Hey thanks Sean and JBank! (i'm writing this second time, first one dissapeared..)

Well, I thought the amplifier was in the trunk since the fiber-optic orange cables go in that direction. And some other people told me it can be in the trunk.

But I believe you and I will follow your instructions to work on the passenger footwell and see what is behind, hopefully tomorrow.

Thanks again!
