Welcome to SLKWorld.com: The #1 Mercedes-Benz SLK Forum from Valrico, Florida!

First please update your location and vehicle (year?: 1996-2016, model?: 32, 200, 230, 250, 280, 300,320,350,55) in your profile as it helps the members answer your questions which usually are based on that information if you haven’t. This takes about 30 seconds to do.
Follow exactly to update: ‘Usercp’ at the top of page, then ‘edit your details’ on the left side, ‘additional information’ near the bottom, edit your ‘location’ and ‘vehicle’. Info in your garage does not update your profile.

Some tips to make your visit here more enjoyable:
If you haven’t, please use the 'search' feature at the top right of the page for your questions as they have probably been asked before. Remember, ‘Search’ is your friend.
If you wish to become PM (Private Message) capable, you need 15 posts. To get those 15 posts quickly, just go to the ‘New members introduce yourself here’ section and welcome enough new members to obtain your needed posts to PM. You can always pm a moderator.
Want to post a picture? Start a new thread or make a post, click ‘edit’, click on the ‘paper clip’ or ‘advanced’ and/or ‘manage attachments’ then ‘choose file’ then ‘upload’ and ‘submit’! If Iphone pics, you need to rename any additional pics as Iphone names its pics all the same, image.jpg.
Want to ‘like’ or thank’ someone’s comments? Use the ‘like’ button to the right or the ‘Thanks’ button, bottom right of any post you like. This saves you having to comment.
New members should be aware that the 'New Posts' link next to the 'Search' link top right of the info bar is a great way to see all of the posts you have missed since you were on the forum last. Remember to click 'mark forums read' under ‘quick links’ when you leave.
FREE!! Post your vin in the Vehicle Datacard Request section to get a free datacard (options on your car). You must update your profile with vehicle info and your location and post an introduction first.

Welcome... Once I closed the lid after putting my laptop case in and the shoulder strap got caught in the latch. I finally freed it by somewhat violently pushing down and pulling up on the lid while repeatedly squeezing the handle.

Have you tried to unlock the boot with the key?

You'll need to be on your knees to see it.

There is a thread on here on how to gain limited access to the boot from inside the car.
No idea if the gap is big enough to get the laptop out though.

And welcome to the forum.

Edit to add quote from another thread.
Update: Through this very valuable site, I located an on-line owners manual which identified the 'unlock' next to the red-triangle 'warning' button under the Command display's CRT, which should unlock the doors and trunk. I relayed this to her. However, it appears that for this 'central unlock' to work you still need to access the manual latch on the trunk lid. Ours, unfortunately, is covered by the Passport/BEL traffic laser detector panel which, located above the license plate, blocks access to the latch! The Passport is nice, works great, but their engineers didn't anticipate that my lovely wife, as intelligent as she is, would lock her electronic key [including the valet key] in the trunk. Shame on them! So - I drove an hour to where she was located [she had a nice lunch while I drove .....] and opened the trunk with my $280.65, dealer-provided, second key. All is well with the world; I get husband points, a 'chit' to use in future domestic negotiations, along with the opportunity to tell my wife "don't worry, honey, nobody's perfect" when she asked if I was mad. I'm taking suggestions as to what that ought to be worth in the future . . . Thanks to all for your suggestions!

I have read several posts on this problem because someday I am worried it may happen to me.

I have noted people have mentioned there are wires you can cross under the hood to trick the car into opening the hood if the screen isn't pulled down in the trunk when the mechanism isn;t recognizing. I don't know in your case if this is the problem and so I am not sure this would work.

I have read that sometimes people can get to their trunk from inside the car but only in cases were there are no speakers blocking the way. I don't know in your case if this is the case.

I don't know if you are going to find the answer or not. The last resort may need to be drilling.

Good Luck and keep us informed on your progress one way or the other for those of us who may someday be in the same situation.
