Alright, here's the story:
I inherited a 1998 SLK 230 Kompressor. Great right... Well, I've already put a couple grand in it to fix the suspension. The headliner is being redone as I type. The doors and trunk don't lock or unlock (that's why I've been lurking - fuses are good, but there is a little corrosion on one of the connector pins of the vacuum pump so i'm guessing the board is pretty nasty). All of the interior trim has been "painted" so it is all scratching off. Center sliding console is busted. CD Changer doesn't work. Change holder doesn't have a face plate and comes out by itself when driving. The top works great though...!!!

So...should I spend the money to fix it (I'm guessing 3 or 4 thousand if I do all the labor), or just sell it and wait until I can buy a newer model?

Your opinions are appreciated!

Hi and welcome from the UK Midlands! :)

You "inherited a 1998 SLK 230 Kompressor"... Do you have some emotional attachment to it, or do you love the car for some (whatever) reason... If yes, keep it. :D ... you don't have to fix everything at once. ;)

Welcome redcumulus, from Australia.
Your list of items are all easy to fix.PSE Pumps are less than $500 from several places, paint for interior, any easy $25 DIY fix, and replacing the CD with a new bluetooth head unit for phone and music connectivity, will make all the difference.
If headlining needs fixing, check roof hydraulic cylinder is not leaking. Lots of info here about that.
search threads for all this.
Sounds like one to keep.
