1. leaky valve cover in the middle of fixing =)
2. trunk plastic cover wont stay down when braking AKA top wont drop =(
3. trans seem like it stuck in sport mode and some times acts up... on deceleration

I'm in the middle of the mid west far from a benz dealer

Welcome from London via Tyumen!

#1 - pretty straightforward.

#2 - look and make sure the hinge joints are properly seated, and that none of the retaining pins are missing.

#3 - What do you mean "stuck" in sport mode? If you hit the C/S/M selector, is the indicator in the cluster not changing? "Sport" simply uses all 7 gears, and uses more aggressive up/down shift points. It's hard - for me at least - to tell the difference between "Sport" and "Comfort" unless I'm pushing the car a bit...

Hi MrMan. I also just bought an 06 55 with high mileage, although mine has now topped over 81,000 miles!

Coincidentally, the first things that had to be done to mine were replacing the valve cover gasket and getting the transmission repaired.

I have the same issues with the separator tray in the trunk. It helps if I pull back on the sides instead of the center to "lock" it down. But even then, if I go over a speed bump, it'll often snap back. Loudly. I've stopped worrying about it and just leave it up, knowing that I'll need to open the boot to lower the top. Maybe next Spring I'll do some experimenting with some kind of tape placement to firm up the latch connection with the worn out plastic.

By the way, make sure they check the boots on your suspension. Mine were cracked, but hadn't started leaking yet. You *really* don't want them to leak!
