1998 SLK 230 (possibly)

Hello to what looks like a great board where people actually work on their cars and don't
refer everything to the dealership! Awesome!

I've been eyeing an SLK with less than 50K miles for a while and I'm looking to pick it up within a few days, but I need to verify a few things. the car will crank once and stop. According to one of the posts, it could simply be down to several things;

If it does come down to reprogramming the FOB, is there any other way other than the dealership? Isn't there an SLK guru in the Orlando area who's something along those lines? Thanks!

- EIS? Electronic Ignition Switch? I'll have to look into all that comes with that repair.

- He said it was a new battery, and it tested at 12.4 on my multimeter. Not having a fully charged battery is an issue with BMWs as well.

- And now that you say it, it is probably safer to just "deal" with the dealership!

The interiors in these are HORRIBLE, but i'm looking forward to fabbing up a more modern version (from composites) that's more relevant to the multi-media connected society we're currently in!
