Hi everybody ! I'm a new member so...

First : I'm french so my english is far from fluent... Sorry ! ;-)

Second : I dont not own a SLK right now ! (But I'm very looking for one !)

I owned japanese NC miata (MX-5) for several years and I was really happy with it BUT the bad news is new Miata will have only soft top... And soft top in my country is a very bad idea cause silly asshole who like to use knife just for the fun...

So, the only other Hard top convertible I find very cool is... SLK of course !

Right know, I'm waiting for the public price of new 2016 SLK before buying... I already know I don't want a small 1.6 engine so if the first price of the 2016 is the same than the old 200, I will buy a second hand and if the 1.6 is a new car 2-3000 € less expensive than actual 200, I will buy a new 200...

My main question right now is about the impressive number of 250 cdi for sale ! I would like to know why ?

A) Because most of the 2014 and 2015 new SLK selled was 250 CDI (Seems strange but possible...) so of course , you have more 250 than 200 or 350 for sell

B) Diesel on a SLK is ******** and most of the guy who bought them are selling them quickly (And with very low kilomiters, so I really do not understand why they buy a Diesel !!!)

What else ? I'm photographer and I'm 49 years old... Love cats, Rock and Goth Music, Beer and Whisky...

Hello Marco. New SLK's will be the 300SLK and 55AMG. This will be the last bunch of our beloved car and no more small engines
like the 200 and 230. So I heard.
MB tried a Diesel SLK as Audi has been succesfull for decades with a convertible diesel.
I also find it strange to drive a SLK Diesel. Not my cup of tea.:frown:

Do you know Mercedes build a 170 convertible Diesel back in the 50's? It was called OTP and was driven by the 'Deutsche Grenzpolizei'.
Means policemen who controlled the German borders. This car was not popular and soon dropped for something faster.
Very few were build and are in collectors hands now.
Hi, welcome from Barrhead, Scotland.
Hi Marco, and welcome from the UK Midlands! :)
Welcome Marco.

I'm sure you'll be happy with any of the SLKs.

Rock and Goth goes down well in our house.
Hi from Aberdeen,Scotland. Marco, are you a professional photographer who likes beer and whisky? Are you willing to give tips on how to keep a steady hand as well as tips on how best to photograph our favourite cars? Disappointed to hear of vandalism in the south of France as I had been thinking of making it my next holiday. Good luck with the car.
Roy.
Welcome from Utah!

Earlier this year Volkswagen admitted that its "clean diesel" vehicles contained a defeat device that detected when the vehicles were undergoing emissions testing. The emissions reduction systems turned on when the vehicles were being tested, but otherwise were turned off. Because of this, Volkswagen clean diesel engines emitted NOx at up to 40 times the level allowed by law. The affected engines are in Volkswagens, Audis and Porsches. I wonder if the bad publicity for Volkswagen diesel engines has turned people off of diesel engines as a whole.
