Just put down a holding deposit on a 57 plate SLK 200, my first Mercedes-Benz, and first 2 seater. Pick it up this week so will no doubt bug you all with photos.

I ideally wanted the facelift model but I'm getting a good deal here and the car is well equipped so I'll put up with that. Reading around this forum it sounds like I could fit a facelift bumper and wing mirrors anyway easily. Can anyone confirm?

Any other owners around Coventry?

Hi and welcome to SLKWorld.com from the UK Midlands - Thanks for joining us! :)

As Myk (Avel Du) has already said, we have quite a few members around the Midlands, and we like to get together from time to time. There are quite a few meets already planned, including both this Saturday (Corby) and Sunday (Duxford). Take a look at the UK Calendar link that Myk already shared, or a general look in the UK Region section too.

It would be great to meet you, if you'd like to join us sometime. :tu:

PS. There are members based in Coventry too, I'm sure they'll be along to say Hi shortly too ( @ZeroZero & @gordonian ).

Dang!... I knew we had other members in Warwickshire, but just couldn't remember exactly where (sorry Ian @Zenman 63 & Dave @DPA - and anyone else I've missed too)!

I just realised I missed helping with the questions about facelift bumper and wing mirrors...

There are many threads on the forum about both of these topics, so probably best to do a search and read through the threads yourself for all the details. I think (and I don't speak from personal experience, as I haven't done either) the summary is that facelift mirrors (or even aftermarket facelift style mirror covers) are quite simple, where as facelifting the bumper isn't as straight forward as you might hope. There are many parts needed for the facelift bumper that are different to the pre-facelift one, so you'll need more than just the "bumper".

Here are a couple of searches for you:
Facelift bumper
Facelift mirrors

Yeah that's what I've read to. I'll dig deeper into it, thanks for the links
