Hi everyone.
I am the very proud owner of my first Mercedes, well to be fair it is my Wife's car but I chose it. It's a 2005 SLK 280 R171. It only covered 61,000 miles with a full Mercedes service history. I paid such a ridiculous price I had to have it despite spending over £1000 very recently on her Audi TT. The car belonged to a colleague who used it as a runabout. It was regularly serviced but rarely had any TLC applied. After spending all day yesterday cleaning, vacuuming and polishing the SLK now looks resplendent!
Being as I'm new I will be asking lots of questions so please be patient:smile:
Regards,
Steve

Hi Steve, and welcome to SLKWorld.com from the UK Midlands - Thanks for joining us! :)

Where are you in the Midlands? We have quite a few get-togethers here, if you're interested in meeting up with other members sometime (including one this coming Saturday). If you're interested, check out the UK Region section, here:
United Kingdom Region - Mercedes Benz SLK Forum

Some great R171 info, including Owner’s/Maintenance/COMAND manuals, etc.:

Don’t forget to lube those seals:

Download your car’s brochure:

Mods you should think about doing to your SLK:

Some tips to make your visit here more enjoyable:
  • Post your VIN (or VIN of a car you're looking at) in the Vehicle Datacard Request section to get a free datacard (options on the car).
FREE!! How to get a free data card!
  • If you haven’t, please use the 'search' feature at the top right of the page for your questions as they have probably been asked before. Remember, ‘Search’ is your friend.
  • If you wish to become PM (Private Message) capable, you need 15 posts. To get those 15 posts quickly, just go to the ‘New members introduce yourself here’ section and welcome enough new members to obtain your needed posts to PM.
  • Want to post a picture? Start a new thread or make a post, click ‘edit’, click on the ‘paper clip’ or ‘advanced’ and/or ‘manage attachments’ then ‘choose file’ then ‘upload’ and ‘submit’! If iPhone pics, you need to rename any additional pics as iPhone names its pics all the same, image.jpg.
  • Want to 'like' or 'thank' someone’s comments? Use the ‘like’ button to the right or the ‘Thanks’ button, bottom right of any individual’s post that you like. This saves you having to comment.
  • New members should be aware that the 'New Posts' link in the info bar towards the top of the screen is a great way to see all of the posts you have missed since you were on the forum last. Remember to click 'mark forums read' under ‘quick links’ when you leave.

Thank you

Thank You.

Well thank you all for a very warm welcome.
I have updated my profile, I'm from Uttoxeter in the West Midlands, near to Alton Towers and the home of JCB.
I've also requested a data card for my car. This will be really interesting as I seem to have bought a very low spec model unless I'm mistaken. Nevertheless what it lacks in bells and whistles is amply compensated for in other ways.
Cheers,
Steve

Hi from Northamptonshire. This is a great forum, with lots of friendly members. Hope you will attend some of the many meets which are organised in the UK - if so, hopefully we will meet up.
