I've been lurking here for a while picking up info on how best to modify and maintain my car and thought it was high time I joined properly, so thanks to everyone who has unwittingly helped me so far.

I bought a Black 1999 SLK R170 230 at the beginning of the summer.

The car is in great condition overall but the Black and Tan interior looked a bit tired.

Not terribly keen on the tan colour in a black car (rather like wearing brown shoes with a black suit; some people can get away with it but I'm a bit too hidebound and traditional) so I am currently changing the interior to anthracite. I'm not sure if Mercedes offered the R170 in black without a two tone interior? I've never seen a black one with a black/anthracite interior. The seats and door cards are done, just the console and dash to go.

Also upgrading the Sound System, gone with Rainbow to keep with the German theme:
Rainbow Sound Line SL-C6.2 PRO speakers and Rainbow intellisub 8" are fitted but my Pioneer DEH 88 isn't really up to the job of driving the speakers so a Rainbow iPaul 4 channel amp is going in behind the driver's seat, I'll run the wiring when I put in the resprayed console components.

I picked up some AMG 17" wheels and had them refurbed - powder coat black with a diamond cut rim, they look so much better than the standard 16" wheels.

I would like to fit coilovers to drop the car about 1.5" but the cost is prohibitive.

Many thanks for the warm welcome.

Shame I didn't know that Black/Black was an option, I could have saved myself some trouble and tracked one down. Mind you I may have missed a glorious British summer with the roof down while I did so.
