Hello and thank you for being joined. Im Haris, from Greece and i just bought a SLK 200 R170 manufactured in 1999. My other Mercedes is a CLS 200k (2009).
I d like your help concerning my door windows and their exact position. When im shutting the door, while having the windows entirely closed, it closes with more difficulty and plus its not sealed totally by its rubber cover above. I supose the window needs some adjastment but can i be anything that needs an electrician? Normally, does the window come lower when i open the door and closes back after the door closure?
Thank you in advance and Merry xmass !

yes, when you open the door, the window will lower about an inch and when you close the door the reverse happens and it should seal

later model slks have to have the windows 'synched' but your model year 1999? does not have that function

you can lube the seals to see if that helps

Mine seems that doesnt do the proper window move you mentioned above. In fact windows dont move at all not matter i open or close the doors. I understand that i have to visit an electrician so as to arrange it, havnent i?
Except for that, do i have to make the proper adjustment, as its being presented here:
?
PS: my model year is 1999 and i ve added it to profile.

My 2000 model does not have the automatic door lowering I may be wrong but I think this was first fitted in the r171 model.

Welcome to the forum from Yorkshire.

Regards Stuart.
Hi Haris, welcome from Barrhead, Scotland.
Thx for your interest Stuart
Hello Daviethescaff
I have to thank jbanks again for the sites.
My major need is to find out for sure if my car has automatic window lowering, so as to decide if i need only adjustment or i have to deal with electric stuff also. If Stuart is right, then a window adjustment is going to soleve the problem!

Hi Haris, and welcome from the UK Midlands! :)

I can't offer advice on the R170 as I've never had one... I hope you get the issue resolved quickly though :D
Welcome from Wirral, England.

Our 2004 R170 windows don't move.

Welcome from Madrid...

The auto windows is just for the r171s onwards, so you don't have it .

If you look at the bottom of the door underneath you'll see some rubber covers, remove them and lower the window until you see some 10mm nuts appear , one at the front and one at the rear, these can be used to slightly adjust the windows...

Welcome from the Sacramento Valley SLK Enthusiasts!
thank you

thx a lot to everyone interested. As previous guys mentioned, R170 doesnt have auto-lowering windows. Concequently, i had to adjust the drivers window so as to arrange the rights place. An important piece of information is that the machine that moves the window can impose too much force to the metallic compoment that exists for defining the most upper position of the wndow, (its a L shaped metallic part) and thus to twist it. Despite the adjustment that i did, i couldnt solve the problem till i found out that this metallic compoment was twisted. I managed to bring it back to its former condition and only then the window obtained its optimal move.
Happy new year!!!
