Hey, new member here: 1999 SLK 230 Kompressor Sport
I've basically stalked this forum for a while (sorry not sorry!!) always looking for repair and care info so we don't drop a $$$$$...$$$$...$$$$$$$$$$ on my beloved little vroom-vroom since it isn't the newest latest greatest model.
I do have a question (mostly for Bazzle) on the k40 relay board. I've posted in that thread directly to him, but here's the quickie if anyone should happen to see this and read it all the way through: we've had the dealership do a diagnostic, the K40 needs to be replaced...for (you guessed it)...$$$$$ which is WAY more than I wanna spend. Found one on autohauzas.com (thank you all who posted this website!!...told yall I stalked the forum!) Anyway, found an OEM for $120, question is this: if the old board is pulled and a new one put in place, does the new one have to be programmed to the car? Dealership says "a new board may (MAY) need to be programmed to the car, which is why we advise you let our technicians handle the install"...how much of this is Dealer BS and how much is true? Cause if it doesn't need programming then we should be able to pop the new one in with no problem, right? By the way, the car does run, so we can get it home to DIY, we had the dealer diag it because our reg tech shop could only go so far with it and the codes it was throwing.
THANK YOU ONE AND ALL!!

Have you already tried to reflow the solder joints?
Worked for many others.
