So I'm out with Bella and the BF yesterday, it was about 90..we go through a drive through for coffee..and I am hearing, clicking, or popping from under the car. Yes the a/c was on. As the clicking happened, you could of course feel a shift in the idle of the car. And the bf said it had to do with temperature and metal, and of course because the ac was on, that it was normal.

Was he right?

When the AC compressor turns on and off you will hear a click and there will be a change in the engine for a moment as the compressor is engaged. This would be noticed at idle more than while driving. This is what I have experienced on any car I have had. I believe the compressor turns off and on to prevent freezing of the coils.

That's my opinion anyway.

Hopefully a more qualified person will post and help.
