Headliner

820 Views 12 Replies 13 Participants Last post by  DAVIETHESCAFF
I received a 98 slk230 kompressor. For my birthday in March awesome car 60,000 miles on it when I received it, now my headliner is starting to fall over my head, not on the passenger side. Does anyone know how I can fix this problem?

When mine started to fall, it was b/c the hydraulic fluid was leaking from the roof's front actuator, causing puckering and the liner to separate from the rigid shell. If that's what's going on, then this is the thread for you: http://www.slkworld.com/slk-r170-ge...1-slk-230-hydraulic-roof-actuator-repair.html

I agree with numitor. If you are handy you can put new seals in the cylinders yourself. Check eBay for the parts and instructions. Good luck.

Hi Mikey, a warm welcome from Southern Arizona. Good to have you on board. You have certainly come to the right place for knowledge. Best of luck with the repair. Enjoy the people, the forum, and top down cruisin'.
Look for oil stain near the front of the headliner. If you see oil stain you have a leak. If there is no oil stain it is the foam in the headliner failing. If this is the case you can get a new headliner from MB for something over $200. You can have a auto upholsterer shop to repair it around $100, or you can buy replacement cloth and DIY around $50. Headline only has 9 screws holding it in. Three across the front, and three on each side. Remove screws and it slides forward.
