Hello All... finally I have my 2006 SLK 55 at the shop getting Kleeman headers, Needwings CAI and Renntech ECU tune! Can't wait to get it back, hopefully this Friday! The initial Dyno numbers, bone stock, were 315/304. This was done on a Mustang Dynometer, which supposedly gives lower number because it simulates "real world" driving conditions factoring in wind resistance and load.

As soon as I get it back I'll update the new dyno numbers...

Next I'll want to do some wheel/tire and suspension mods to try and control the power.

Probably wheels/tires first... any suggestions?

I'm very new to performance upgrading and not sure what numbers to expect. I will see if I can get the dyno sheet (before and after) when I pick up the car. Any suggestions for what I need to look for or ask?

Very nice! Mustangs do normally read low. Usually about 15% lower than a dynojet. Every dyno is different though, so just use it like you are to see the gains you make. I am interested in seeing your numbers!

How do you like that Needwings CAI? It sure looks interesting but I personally can't tolerate the prize. I'm tempting to fabricate my own at some point.

Ill let you know about the intake once I get the car back.

I do have a question to put out there. Our plan right now is to have straight pipes from the headers to the rear, deleting the primary and secondary cats. What is the big benefit of adding an x pipe?

To be clear, the straight pipes are going to the resonator....what are the benefits of the x pipe over the resonator.

X pipe done right can have a big torque bump, plus gives exhaust more of a growl. My favorite "dyno" is 1/4 mile trap speed, and the rest are tools for selling aftermarket parts that may or may not have any real benefit.

The before and after are definitely what you want. Getting Air/Fuel ratios is important when you are doing upgrades, especially a tune. You should want your numbers with the SAE Correction factor so that you're better able to compare, and aren't relying on colder weather (if applicable), etc. Dyno Correction Factors - Real Wheel Horsepower - GM High-Tech Performance Magazine

Which shop did you go to? I have been at SpeedSouth in Birmingham, which has a Mustang dyno.

Yes, it's at Speedsouth. I decided to go ahead with the X-Pipe install too...

Hopefully they've gotten their act together. The owner died about 3 years ago, and the people who took it over afterwards (one may have been his son) seemed pretty clueless.
