I have just joined this group having been an SLK owner here in the UK since 2004. First I had a 2003 model year SLK 320; that was nice enough but in August 2005 I was lucky enough to find a 2003 SLK32 AMG with only 8000 miles since new - complete with designo interior. 63000 miles and almost 10 years later and it's still my daily drive! It's been to Lake Constance 3 times (or rather the Bodensee as the Germans term it) - so I've seen double the UK speed limit quite legally and without drama!
On a personal note, I retired from the RAF in the rank of Sqn Ldr in 2003, having spent 35 years poling aircraft in HM's flying club - the usual training stuff (Chipmunk, Jet Provost, Gnat, Hunter) plus tours on the Vulcan, Phantom and VC10K. I've also done some PPL-level instruction and examining, but not right now as I'm helping AOPA with the mysteries of €urocratic pilot licensing.
Still working though - what's this 'retirement' thing?
