Hello, I was just admitted as a new member and I am still learning how to navigate this forum. I have a 1998 SLK 230 with 30k miles. Since like most of the SLK of this year, it had interior paint peeling off, I had to repaint the console, panels from paints that I ordered through Germany. I stick on wood laminates on the paneling, that was guaranted not to peel and replaced the shifting level knob to burl wood. For me, the appearance looks much better than the original. I also replaced the wheels to 18 inches.
I have been searching the forum archives for issues of overheating but could not find one that fits my situation. Lately, my car has been overheating. I have replaced the thermostat, flush coolant with MB coolant, replaced cooling fan control module, but it stills overheats. I checked the k-40 relay and the board soldering all looks fine. My cooling fan works because I used a jumper directly from the battery and it runs. The fuses are good. The problem is the fan would go on when temp gauge reaches 105 but not all the time and this is when the engine overheats. Any advices will be appreciated. Thank you.
