and it is quite interesting...

as you can see from this thread (http://www.slkworld.com/performance-mods-r171/430449-urgent-question-those-headers.html) I've gone from 'shorty' headers to, what would appear to be, long tube headers, I've also gone x-pipe and 'race'-cats (200-cell).

With all of the above changes going on I was concerned that the start-up and idle would be quite loud/lumpy and totally un-neighbourly; in reality the reverse is true! Start-up is still quite loud, but I'd swear that idle is a fair bit quieter. Where I am sure it's louder is when you put your foot down when it sounds positively vicious >:D>:D>:D>:D

In addition to my Supercharger, I of course have the tune and headers and down pipe
My car rumbles on startup but is quiet until about 1200-1500 :D

sounds like my set-up then; @ 30 in 4th (or so) it is nearly silent :crying:, though to be fair that's not necessarily a bad thing (I did nearly cry when a '65 GTO rumbled past and sounded just full of awesome!). Anything more than about 1/3 throttle though and it does start being a 'little shouty', at 1/2+ it gets quite interesting.... haven't tried full - yet! >:D

So what is your exact setup now? What was total cost? See much improvement on the bum dyno?

in fairness it was too damn fast to drive at full throttle before I had anything done - it certainly don't [sic] feel any slower!! >:D>:D To properly answer your question though I have to be honest and say that this really seems to rip down the road whilst gaining speed.. I think it's the first time I've actually seriously thought about going to a drag strip

I suspect that a lot of people (most?) will think it too noisy but I gotta be honest I just can't get enough of it - especially when it has the performance to back up a great deal of the noise!

Hi Patrick,
Glad to see you have the new exhaust up and running. Nice pictures showing the work done. Look forward to hearing it in its full glory when I next see you, perhaps at the Car and Coffee at Maldon. I'm still trying to convince myself that six cylinders can sound as good as eight, but who am I trying to kid.....?
Having said that, there seems to be a trend towards downsizing from 8 cylinders to 6 by Audi and BMW, but I think even the likes of them are struggling to convert the motoring press.

Bye for now,

Andy

I'm still toying...

SO what did it cost?

What manufacture/brands are fitted now?

not sure which ones I can make and which ones I can't thanks to work :crying:

cost? Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much, a lot of fettling had to be done:

- some custom 'sleeves' to ensure that there'd be a tight fit for the manifold
- down-pipes made to connect headers to cats
- extra piping from cats to x-pipe to silencers
- x-pipe
- cats (one of which isn't working properly :(
- headers off/on/off/on/off etc

IMO you're likely bitter off buying a more expensive header system with less extra stuff needing to be done

Nice...sounds a bit 'Mustangy' or is that me.........Jeff would know, he likes Mustangs:laugh::laugh:
funny you should say that - I too love my Mustangs  (had a 2005 for about 2 years), IMO this sounds a lot 'harder' for want of a better expression. It's less 'woofely' (don'tcha love the descriptions!) and most certainly not at all civilised - one could nearly say it's a thug in an Armani suit

It looks like those are 'middie' headers. Long tube headers have the final merge at the bottom of the chassis.
Nonetheless, the ones you have look awesome! What brand, and how much are they? Equal length?

TBH the headers were an e-bay special bought from a German site. I think (and I'm happy to be corrected here) that there are Kleeman knock-offs (or should that be klones? >:D)
