Received a info pamphlet from California court about the lawsuit against MB cars (2005-2007) for the defect in the balance shaft sprockets M272 (V-6) engines and the idle gears in M273 (V-8) engines. Talks about our legal rights and options. Mentioned engines bearing serial numbers up to 2729..30 468993 or 2739..30 088611. It said to check serial # on engine or enter the "VIN" on the settlement website: Seifi v. MBUSA (I think that's the site-only one I found). Has anyone gotten one of these ?? Thanks

Yup, came today.

Reading the notice, sounds like there is nothing to do. "If" yours fails before 10 years and 125k, they will cover part of the repair cost. Looks like there is some provision for them to compensate for repairs already made. I will add this note to my file in case mine fails in the next 11 months. After that, I'd be out of luck as mine will be 10 years old.

As usual, the lawyers are the ones making out nicely on the deal - almost $2.5m.
