Goodwood have now announced the 2015 Breakfast Club calendar:
https://grrc.goodwood.com/breakfast-club/2015-calendar

One theme captures all SLKs (even though our tops are not 'soft'), and some of our SLKs could fit into a couple of the other themes too. Here's some of the info from the above link...

BREAKFAST CLUB 2015 – THE THEMES:

3rd May Supercar Sunday

Ultimate high-performance machines – both cars and bikes – and the greatest free supercar show on the planet? A Goodwood favourite returns!

7th June Soft-Top Sunday
Anything but the roof! Classic and modern soft-tops, T-tops, targas, and ‘no-tops-at-all’, resplendent in the Sussex summer sunshine. Get your tops off and come and join the party…

2nd August Thoroughbred Sunday
Turning the clock back to the golden era of the Goodwood Motor Circuit, this is the big day for pre-1966 cars and bikes. Motoring nostalgia doesn’t get better than this, and like every other Breakfast Club it’s free to join the fun!

4th October Vee-Power Sunday
Heavy rain reduced the turn-out, but didn’t dampen the enthusiasm of thousands of Breakfast Clubbers who braved the weather when we ran Vee-Power as a theme in 2014. But don’t worry if you missed it, because we love the Vee-Power concept so much we’re running it again in 2015 – a Breakfast Club dedicated to the glory that is the vee engine, *from vee-twin motorcycles to mighty V16 Cadillacs!

1st November ‘Bahn-stormer Sunday
Fun, fun, fun didn’t start with Kraftwerk – Auto Unions were setting records on the first stretch of German Autobahn as early as 1935. So we’d love to see some pre-war beasties at our new for 2015 ‘bahn-stormer’ themed Breakfast Club, but does anyone else get misty-eyed over of old magazine road-test mentions of 155mph ‘limiters’ on BMWs and Mercs from the 1980s? If your ‘modern’ machinery could crack the magic 155mph fresh from the showroom – this theme is for you too!

Pre-registration for the 2015 Goodwood Breakfast Club Events is now open:

Note: The entries listed above in Purple (actually "DarkOrchid") are those that SLKWorld members have been accepted for entry.

I have to say that on a miserable January Morning I am really looking forward to warm drives to Goodwood with the roof down.

Which date/theme are you favouring then Dave? They all sound good!
Col, either the June or October dates/themes would probably be my preference, but I haven't checked further details or applied for tickets yet. Which would be your preference?

I'd prefer the June date for the weather and the 'soft top' theme but I really like the sound of the May, October and November themes too!

Could be tempted with some of them, I think my bike probably qualifies for the May one , same size engine as June's slk

@Col and others,

I've been thinking about this and thought "Why do we have to limit ourselves to just one date?"

I probably won't be able to make the Supercar Sunday at the beginning of May, but I'm going to plan to go for the Soft-Top Sunday on 7th June. Once pre-registration opens, I'm going to apply for a ticket to park within the motor circuit grounds, although if I/we don't get one there's still nothing stopping us from attending as visitors anyway.

If we enjoy it, we can always plan to attend another later in the year too

The only downside, as I see it, is that if we do get the pre-registration tickets we're supposed to be at the circuit between 07:00 and 07:30! :surprise:

I'm up the June 7th event and would consider doing another one too! When can you pre-register from @dbgrn ? The early start would be a bummer though!

Also planning to do a couple of airshows this year too so need to check the dates don't clash

Pre-registration is due to open "early in 2015". I've subscribed to their newsletter, so should get notified once it opens and I'll post again here once that happens.

I've just submitted my pre-registration request for 7th June (Soft-Top Sunday), as well as some of the others that follow, and now need to wait to find out whether I've been successful or not (I'll update here when I find out, but according to the site, this may be some time away).

In order to submit a pre-registration request, you will need to sign-up with them, add a car to your 'garage' (on their system) and then pre-register for an event.

Good luck, and fingers crossed!

Have successfully registered with goodwood, was it me or was it hard work?
Yes, I agree, it's not very intuitive (and I think Col might agree too)... in fact, it's a good job that I don't want to go in my Westfield, as the Goodwood site doesn't even recognise the reg number for that (so it won't even let me add that car to my 'garage' there)!!

Fingers crossed now that they select us for tickets!

Apologies if I have banged on about this before but Goodwood gets horribly overwhelmed with attendees & you need to be on site asap as the queues become horrendous very quickly. That's queues to access the track if you have a pass, queues for the public car park and queues to get your coffee and buttie.
Get parked up by 8am and you can relax & watch the cars arrive.
When departing beware Plod is everywhere so curb your enthusiasm & excitement when it comes to speed, not just outright but also when taking the local roundabouts for they get irritated if you try drifting with tyres squealing.
I got stopped en-route once for straight-lining a roundabout & general over-exuberant driving!! And I was driving a flipping diesel Vectra for heavens sake. My day was complete when on arrival I was refused entry to the Supercar line up on the finishing straight. :crying:

I got my acceptance for Soft Top Sunday last night.

We are going tomorrow for Supercar Sunday, with our youngest, so no SLK :frown:

Regards,

Ed
