New SLK owner and new to Mercedes, as well. My wife and I bought a 2000 SLK 230 fixer upper for $1800, and I have spent countless hours redoing the interior and fixing rattles. The red interior was peeling badly, so I stripped it and painted it all black. I covered the stock carbon fiber panels with wood grain, and it looks so much better than when I bought it. The cylinders are leaking fluid, so the top does not retract. I know a guy in Daytona who can fix those as soon as I am ready to put out the expense. The more I get it into shape, the more I enjoy owning it. Glad to be part of a community who shares this joy.
