It's an irony of life and a misgiving of human nature that as our parent raise us with an unconditional hand through unconditional love we tend to forget and forgo such unrequited love and the subsequent opportunity to reciprocate with the same kind of love that they've expressed. At times we all require some sort of reminder that we tend to take for granted those who would never leave or forsake us, and would surely die for us, even when we do take them for granted.
The point is to show how children grow increasingly intolerant of their parents as the parents age. They lose patience, understanding. Parents don't need to have dementia or Alzheimer's but can still forget/repeat things and just as our parents cared for us with patience, understanding when we were young we need to do the same.
