After featuring the world premiere during the North American International Auto Show in Detroit in early January, the Mercedes Benz SLC roadster – the renamed and facelifted SLK – has decided to also bow in front of the European audience.

While in Detroit the winter was raging on and the convertible fans had no incentive to head out on the road inside the new SLC now the Geneva Motor Show is scheduled during the milder March so there are big chances the SLKsuccessor would be snatched out for a quick ride.

The SLC packs a familiar design since it’s a restyled SLK and features a modified front bumper, restyled headlights, and a new take on the grille with diamond inserts. Out in the back there’s also a new bumper, fresher taillights, and reworked dual exhaust system. The retractable roof can be opened at speeds up to 25 mph. The cabin also looks instantly recognizable and Mercedes opted for a new sports steering wheel and a restyled instrument cluster. There’s also fresher upholstery, revised trim, and a new COMAND infotainment system with a seven-inch display.

While there will be a range of engine choices for the model – including diesel versions – the most interesting powertrain is the new Mercedes-AMG SLC 43 version that comes instead of the older SLK 55 AMG. It packs a smaller biturbo 3.0-liter V6 engine with 362 hp and 384 lb-ft of torque, which is able to propel the SLC to 60 mph in 4.6 seconds before reaching the electronically-controlled top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h).

Thanks for the interesting post. As an aside I'm ashamed to admit that I wasn't familiar with the term 'Heckflosse' in your handle, then I saw it again in your garage listing and Googled it, that's the car that got me liking MB many years ago.. my grandma bought me a toy one and I absolutely loved it!
