Hi folks

My car is due a "Service A" (and perhaps a auto gear box service) within the month so I am wondering if anyone has a recommendation on a garage in the Nottingham area. Looks like there are three choices for a Mercedes specialist - the main franchise dealership, MB Nottingham in Lenton or MB Centre in Colwick. Is there anywhere else that I should be considering? Looking at Google reviews I am edging towards the one in Colwick.

I would take it the local garage I have used for years but when I enquired how much it would be to change the thermostat he did the sucking of air through the teeth and told me it is never easy with a Mercedes as it can lead to other problems! As they never came back with a quote I am not sure I want to go back there!

Hi Cutler, I have been using both the Main Dealer and the MB Centre at Colwick for servicing and for repairs but I have never used MB Nottingham in Lenton as their quotes seem to be too high everytime. I've been satisfied with both so far. I always start with ringing them all up and getting a price and then perhaps give one a try and see what you think. The only thing I would make sure of though is that if you use the main dealer tell them NOT to wash your car as if you like detailing your car you will get it back looking worse than when you hand it over.

Thanks for your help with this. Looks like the MB Centre in Colwick is favourite at the moment but I will give the main dealer and the MB Centre a call to compare the quotes and go from there. I will let you know how it goes.

Sorry for not replying sooner but I have been away on holiday for the past week.

Had an "A" service and auto gearbox service performed this week at the MB Centre this week. I dropped the car off in the morning, they did the work, I picked it up same day. Had a few advisories, one of which was a leaking headlight washer (which they disconnected and clamped up to stop the leak) and said to get it fixed for next MOT. No pressure from them, "to get it done now before the car explodes you monster"!

Overall, quite happy with them and will go there again in future. As with the main dealer, do not get them to wash the car. A blind man must have done it as it would looked better if it was left out in the rain.

The Nottingham main dealer washed mine the first time I took it in and they scratched it on the drivers door. I now tell them not to wash it.
It's a Rep's Company Car type wash, where they are not too concerned as long as it looks cleanish.
