Hi Guys.
I really hope that somebody can assist me.
I have a 2003 SLK200 Kompressor
I am having problems with oil coming through the big pipe that goes from the kompressor to the air intake. i am for ever having to remove and clean the MAF sensor. runs for two or so weeks then Engine Management light comes on again.

My other big problem is the fuel consumption....
Its terrible.
I have made a point of driving carefully with a light foot but i am only getting +/- 120km on R100 worth of fuel.
I need advise please.

I dont want to have to sell the car

Hi and welcome to SLKWorld.com from the UK Midlands - Thanks for joining us! :)

First please update your profile with your location and vehicle (year?: 1996-2016, model?: 32, 200, 230, 250, 280, 300, 320, 350, 55), if you haven’t already done so, as it helps the members answer your questions which usually are based on that information.
Follow this to update: ‘User CP’ at the top of page, then ‘edit your details’ on the left side, ‘additional information’ near the bottom, edit your ‘location’ and ‘vehicle’ (and then click ‘SAVE CHANGES’ button at the bottom of the page). Info in your garage does not update your profile.

Depending on where you are, 2003 could have been the cutover year for the R170 to R171 model, so it might not be clear to members which you have. Once you've updated your profile (as described above), we can then also move the thread to the right section of the forum too (i.e. either R170 or R171 section), as that might help others to help you better.

Also, please post a brief intro thread, so that other members can welcome you too...
Your 1st thread should be your introduction so we can welcome you properly so post an introduction in the ‘New members introduce yourself here’ section, if you haven’t already:
This intro can be as brief or as detailed as you like. Just something to introduce yourself, and which SLK you have (perhaps also why you bought an SLK), would be perfect, thanks!

Thank you

From your other post (Headlight Problem), I now see you have an R170, so have moved this thread to the R170 section. :D

Please update your profile (as above) to help other members to help you better, thanks! :tu:

I think your MAF is beyond permanent repair. Buy a new one. With respect to your fuel consumption do the MAF first then run the car to an empty tank and fill it up half way with the highest octane fuel you can (94 or better). Then add the best fuel additive you can find, See if this helps after running that to empty. If it doesn't you may need to start inspecting your fuel system. See if the car is throwing codes hopefully you can get a free reading. You may need anything from a new air filter, fuel filter or o2 sensor (if its the o2 sensor you likely would get the CEL light on the dash board but it may not be bad enough yet).

Last and but not least check the condition of your tires. Make sure they are in good condition and properly inflated.

Good Luck, keep us posted

You're only getting 120km out of a full tank of fuel? Seems nearly impossible. How does the car run generally? Good power? acceleration?
