I really have used the search feature and looked for several hours regarding my issue. I just bought my 2012 SLK 250 and it has the "sport" package, but appears to be the bodywork only and it still has the 1.8 liter turbo. However, it does have the 18 inch AMG rims. To the issue at hand.
I have not received a brake wear warning, but the front pads look pretty thin. The rotors look great except for there appears to be a slight edge around the perimeter of the rotor. With 36,000 miles, I would not think this is the second set of pads, and I don't think you "turn" these rotors. So, did the original pads wear the rotors this much? Also, do I need to replace the rotors every pad change, and if so, exactly what rotors and pads do I need. I looked at online sites and they list sport package and non-sport package. The original window sticker indicated this was a "sport package" but is it really? I will contact a retail seller of brake components, but would rally appreciate some thoughts if someone has actually completed this task.
I would love to find a repair manual or photos of the change of the pads and rotors. Any knowledge of wear to find either? Thanks for reading this long post.
