I really have used the search feature and looked for several hours regarding my issue. I just bought my 2012 SLK 250 and it has the "sport" package, but appears to be the bodywork only and it still has the 1.8 liter turbo. However, it does have the 18 inch AMG rims. To the issue at hand.

I have not received a brake wear warning, but the front pads look pretty thin. The rotors look great except for there appears to be a slight edge around the perimeter of the rotor. With 36,000 miles, I would not think this is the second set of pads, and I don't think you "turn" these rotors. So, did the original pads wear the rotors this much? Also, do I need to replace the rotors every pad change, and if so, exactly what rotors and pads do I need. I looked at online sites and they list sport package and non-sport package. The original window sticker indicated this was a "sport package" but is it really? I will contact a retail seller of brake components, but would rally appreciate some thoughts if someone has actually completed this task.

I would love to find a repair manual or photos of the change of the pads and rotors. Any knowledge of wear to find either? Thanks for reading this long post.

Do you have a data card. I would think this would be a place to define what your car is by the VIN.
From there you can figure out what parts to order.
The rest should be straight forward.

If you have the sport package and AMG 18s, then you will have the larger type.

I agree, you HAVE to order by VIN to ensure the correct ones.

You do not necessarily need to change disc at each pad change - all depends on condition.

Pity you are so far away! I have just taken off a virtually new sport set in favour of an oversized 360mm set, that will probably sit under the bench gathering dust..!

The data card is really useful. I do have the 18" AMG wheels, and my data card states AMG sport package US 951. However, I was slightly confused because I knew I did not have an AMG motor, just the appearance package, and was not sure when ordering brake components if they were referencing the AMG sports appearance package or an actual AMG performance. I went to Pelican Parts and they referenced the brake components as "950, 951, 952" so I guess that answers my question since my data card states "951." My rotors are not scored so should be fairly easy I hope. Thanks for the assistance and the schematic is truly appreciated.

Where did this VIN specific parts list come from? My build sheet indicates that I have "486 - Sport Suspension". I assume this is not the Sport Package that requires the larger pads but is it possible to get a part sheet for my specific car?

My thoughts as well. Maybe Jeff gets this stuff the same place he gets the data card itself?
