Hi!,

my name is peter and two weeks ago if traded in my 1.8 1994 black Miata for a silver 2001 SLK 230 automatic Kompressor. On paper two cars that look alike. Both rearwheel drive roadsters. Both convertibles. Both two seaters. But both completely different.

Bofore my black 1.8 miata (wich i owned for two years) of owned a red 1.6 1990 Miata for 14 years. So 16 years of Miata driving onder my beld. A nice simple easy to drive roadster with nothing but the bears essentials. It looks like a sportscar and it drives like a sportscar.

Now for the SLK... It had powerstearing, brakes like ship anchors, huge leather seats (wich can be warmed), electric mirrors, a 4 speed automatic gearbox....... everting you can wich for in a car. It looks like a sportscar and it drives like a......... luxurious saloon car.

The only thing that feels like a sportscar is the acceleration. (although i must say it also steers like crazy) The acceleration of an 1.8 Miata is nice... but this is something else! This is an experiance!

After two weaks and some nice saterday and sunday morning trips i am getting used to the SLK quickly. The fun factor is not the same as with a Miata but the "Mercedes experiance" i like very much. You could say the SLK is a Miata for grownups...

Hi everybody,

thanks for the warm welcome! I've updated my profile as requested.
Now it's time to have a look around on the forum. I saw some cool
