I have just seen ads in HK about $1 used car (including some R170s with various milage) if a new vehicle is purchased, the economy is definitely getting worse..

It looks like a very nice house and a pretty clean, yellow SLK. OK, I'll give up Starbucks this week and chip in on it. Any other takers?

HA! The appraised value is $415,000, so basically, they want $55,000 for the SLK. It's nice (the car) but not THAT nice!

That's New Zealand dollars, yes? That would be about $238,000 in the US. A better deal than maybe you thought, Kev.

In the ad, what does "Ratable Value" mean? It was my guess that it meant "taxable value" not "appraisal value". If it does mean "taxable value", my experience is that, in most locations, "taxable value" is somewhat lower than actual value.
