Hi All,

Firstly just wanted to say a big thank you to all the contributors on this forum for their guidance and knowledge. I have learnt so much about this beast of a car.

I finally picked up my 2005 SLK Amg 55 in black a week ago and can say i am beyond happy! The car is fully loaded bar the auto dimming rear view mirror, and has 44,700 miles - which is nice and low. The car has been serviced correctly at it's intervals, however the car still hasn't had it's spark plugs changed in 8 years! I am having them changed in a few days - as obviously they need changing and the car has a slight rough idle plus i can smell petrol which isn't burning correctly when i put my foot down.

If possible, could anyone pls provide me with the datacard for my vehicle, i would really appreciate it. The VIN is WDB1714732F097791

Best Regards, Silver.

Greetings from Tennessee !

I have read that the sparks plugs are easily put off, especially when you have 16 of them to replace.

Welcome to the Forum.

Welcome

Welcome and congrats! I liked my 05 Amg so much it was black/black red Had 167,000 km and run like a charm never had to do the plugs but the valve cover leaks after so many km's and had that replace they pulled the plugs at that time but they were fine only real trouble I had was rear tires for some reason I could not get 10k km's on them. Hope you have the same problem! Just over 3k on the new one wonder what I'll geT on this one lol congrats again.

Just to update everyone - i had all 16 plugs (NGK) changed by my mechanic in an hour or so. Wasn't very difficult to do, had a few issues were the coil pack wasn't popping in properly, but all fixed. The plugs look like one bank were in from new, and one bank had been changed at main dealer at some point.

Once the cover was off - i did notice that the rocker cover gaskets were leaking. So i have bought the 2 x gaskets from the main dealer for £35, and will get them done asap. Now i know where that burnt smell was coming from - the oil is dripping slightly onto the exhaust manifold.

As a side note for anyone doing their gaskets, i also saw leaking from above the rocker covers - the service department at mercedes told me these are the breather boxes one on the left and one on the left right rocker banks and have to be resealed with gasket sealant only, they do not have gaskets.
