So Mrs. Savcom wants to know what the discerning female passenger or driver wears to keep ones hair in place in an SLK in the summer?

Is a baseball cap ok?
How effective is a wind deflector?
What about the retro look - scarf and sunglasses?

It's... er... Not something I can help her with.

Thanks.

Hi Martin, not a problem for me either

Mrs S's main tactic is being short  No accessories needed. Is the seat on a low position? Always has shades on though.

Wind deflector lessens the turbulance and long hair doesnt fly to the air like a Cruella De Villes bad hair moment.
But there is still room for improvement.
Baseball hat is ok but it needs a pony tail also so as to keep these asymetric ends from acting like whips to the face.
For long native African hair though a cap will be fine.
The "bob cut" definately needs a hair scarf and there is nothing to keep a "boufant" style in order unless she uses a strong hairspray.
No problem with "braid" as the hair will be heavy enough to stay in place.
For those who dare a half inch "burr" full Sinead o Connor style solves the problem, but if she likes to keep it long I suggest a "chignon".
For the ones who like to be different, dreadlocks will do the trick and for that old fashioned look a "pixie cut" will be fine.
I think this post justifies the SLK as a hairdressers vehicle.

In all seriousness my significant other wears a baseball hat and a hair band for a pony tail in the back.
Hats and hair scarfs do not work at all.
Sometimes adjusting the seat works also as there is a certain position (depending on height of person) somewhere to the middle and full down that keeps the air totally away from the hair. Rule of thumb is the taller she is the more to the front the seat has to be.
Cheers.

Baseball cap no good for my shape of head.
But need a peak to stop sun dazzling when roof down hense scarfs glasses don't work.
Lots of Asian influence hats on Amazon think trendy grandad cap.
Show mrs s the thread in ladies section loads of ideas.

Don't Kipling to a version to suit? ;)

I'd move this thread to the ladies but it seems to be mostly gents posting.
Bet you're dying to move a mis-placed thread, aren't you Myk?

I only asked here cos my question could be answered both by our sophisticated ladies and also by our men folk who have better halves who may not be part of the forum. And indeed it appears that you've all made some real good suggestions.

It seems to me that the non-hair-cutting choices are:

The Grace Kelly look
The baseball cap with a pony tail
The bandana
The Baker Boy Cap

and my favourite - the Fisherman's Cap.

As a consequence I may be spending a little time mulling things over with Her Ladyship.

Any more suggestions?

Thanks everyone!

I thought the SLK was a fashion accessory.

Personally keep a couple of golf caps in their bags in the trunk and wear one like this when the top is down.

Kids practice of wearing ball caps backwards actually began in the 00s, 1900s that is by racers in places like the Vanderbilt cup.
