I have a 2001 SLK 320 and I am contantly amazed that "everything" the car came with originally is there. But in checking the litte wrap/roll up took kit by the spare tire there are some tools missing it seems.
Could someone provide me a list of the original tools that were in this kit? Also maybe a picture of what you kit has in it.
I want to replenish the missing tools so the kit has what the designers thought it should have.

Thanks as always for your help.

Regards,

Lisa

Hmmmm................
Might be all there then. The little tool bag seemed to have more open slots then that. I didn't realize the screwdriver was a "2in1". I'll have to take a closer look. Your tool kit looks like it's still in it's factory sealed bag. But maybe someone who has the cloth bag like me could lay the tools out for me and take a picture? But your description is certainly good. I'll check it out when I get to the car.

Thanks for your time and posting this response.

Lisa

If you have the soft tool bag.MB used that on several different models in there line up so empty pockets are normal.

Here is the same toolkit for a W124 as you can see it got a spark plug socket and the handle for it.

Thank you Berliner Heckflosse for taking your time to post a picture. Apparently I have everything.
Here's a picture of my tool kit.

As usual, thank you for taking your time to post a picture. It's very much appreciated.

Best regards,

If you look rearward in the toolkit storage slot on the left side trunk panel, you may fish out the first aid kit. Beneath the center trunk panel, you may find the inflatable spare tire, the electric inflator pump, a plastic bag for the dirty flat tire, and the car jack. Porsche also supplied plastic gloves for removing a dirty flat tire.

Behind and attached to the easy removal small right side trunk panel, that covers the vario roof hydraulic pump is the allen key for latching or unlatching the vario roof, and relieving pressure in the hydraulic pump.

Hi 1=Decothom, Thank you for taking your time to supply this information. The amazing thing thing about this 18 year old car is all the original equipment and gear like the first aid kit are still in their factory locations. I found the big bag you mentioned to put in the "dirty" flat tire and I kind of guessed that was what that was for. But thanks to you, you confirmed that hunch that Mercedes put that in there for that purpose.
I had also studied the Vario top and the big allan key is indeed secured to that panel as advertised. In my introduction of myself to the forum I explained how I obtained this car and this was a daily driver for a 90 year old lady before she passed away. But she took such good care of this car and preserved it. Now it's passed on to me to do the same. With your help and others on this forum I am figuring out the intimate details of this car.

Again thank you for your time sir.

Best regards,

Lisa

Well if you've located the allen key Lisa, you will have certainly had a look at the hydraulic pump. Is the oil black? If so the hydraulics have never been overhauled and almost certainly need it after 18 years. Have a look at the TopHydraulics clips on YouTube. The job might seem daunting, but it's pretty straightforward if you take your time and follow the videos. Karl is also incredibly helpful and I guess he's not more than a few hours away from you.....

Note my service manual says to lubricate the throttle linkage now. The manual is outdated. The throttle now has electronic controls.

I have been gathering the following for replacement after the last listed items are received next week. I think I found the best possible prices for these items. For the ones on eBay and autohausaz.com… I paid no taxes or shipping either.

Lubricate Throttle Linkage WRONG in Service Booklet??? YES, WRONG, NOT APPLICABLE
How do I Remove Oil Filter without special tool??? I USED LARGE CHANNEL LOCKS

OEM Mann 104 180 01 09 /1041800109 partscontainer eBay$7.49 Looks 1.5” short, did not contain copper washer pictured. They sent wrong filter-HU718/5x, should be HU727/1x requested refund 04182015 04192015.
* PSF (Power Steering Fluid) change & 50,000 mile service items

Even though the service manual does not mention changing the PSF (Power Steering Fluid) at all I did it today at about 53,000 miles. The capacity is 1.1 quarts. I could only pump/suck out about 200ml/.21 quart. The fluid was really BLACK. Some black SLUDGE was sucked out of the bottom of the pump. I replaced the 200ml twice and drove around each time before removing old fluid. I then topped off with about 200ml. The 3rd fluid drain looked close to the new fluid.

My eBay search for SLK 230 PSF showed very limited options. I searched for Mercedes PSF, and found Q 1460001, or equivalent that contains spaces in the part number, not listed by vendors for the SLK 230. However, the service products manual calls for that spec.

* How do I Remove Oil Filter without special tool??? I USED LARGE CHANNEL LOCKS

You can see a bracket on my 2003 year model that could hold a similar linkage cable on the shock tower in my first picture. I think the cable went there on earlier models. The tube attached to that bracket is from the brake booster. So, I assume it is a vacuum tube.

I think there is an electronic accelerator sensor on my car that is wired to the intake.

Correction: part number is HU718/5x
Hi,

The HU718/5x Mann filter you sent and specified for my 2003 SLK 230 Mercedes is shorter than the Purolator L44757 from Advanec Auto Parts. Before I foul this filter with oil, are you certain you sent the right filter for my car???

See below notes:
HU718/5x Mann oil filter received no spec. at autohausaz or advance auto parts
727/1x Mann advance auto parts
L44757 Purolator advance auto parts
7271x Mann autohausaz

The HU718/5x oil filter I received is not the filter in your picture. It includes 4 small rubber washers instead of the pictured copper washer. It is shorter. The Mann filter in your eBay add is HU727/1x. I received the wrong filter.

The filter I received is about 1.5” shorter than the one I pulled from my car. Therefore, it does not slide down over the oil inlet tube. I had to install a Purolator L44757 filter that fits properly.

Note: I asked if this would fit my 2003 slk 230. You said it would. Unfortunately, you sent the wrong filter.

Please Paypal me back a refund.
