My exhaust manifold cracked on my 2001 SLK 230. I ordered a use one. Does anyone know what other parts I will need to repair the exhaust manifold? I call four Mercedes auto parts; one dealership stated I needed only the gasket. Other dealership stated I needed a screen plate, bolts& gasket. Do I need to replace the screen plate and bolts?

Well, you´ll have to take my advice cautiously since I have pre-facelift model,

however I have ripped the manifold out twice already and all I needed actually were the manifold nuts (threaded bolts tight on the engine block), gasket and lots of elbow grease :)

The nuts were in mine (probably in yours too) form-lock-nuts, i.e. they lose their shape once tightened/used so best to toss them old ones to the bin.

You´ll have to be prepared to take out the supercharger so best to check/change/level its oil level at the same time too.

Annnndddd some coolant will come out as well, so have a bucket handy ;)

Depending on how much the car has corroded from underside, the exhaust bolts might have corroded away, so long 8mm bolts (what´s that in imperial units I dunno) and double-nuts/lock nuts should be also in order, those do not come out intact...
