Hello,

I have a 1997 SLK 230 R170 Pre-FL.

I have searched for the error codes i have been given from a diagnostic test.

P0803 1-4 Upshift (Skip Shift) Solenoid Control Circuit Malfunction
P0805 Clutch Position Sensor Circuit Malfunction
P0806 Clutch Position Sensor Circuit Range/Performance
P1525 right camshaft control device regulation solenoid valve (Y49/2)

So, i have no idea how to/repair or diagnose these issues, i know the car is drinking fuel 80 miles cost me £30 @ £1.19pl.

The car is sluggish sometimes and only drive's in DRIVE (D) sometimes.. but if i change from 1-4 then it has no problems.

Its thrown me off completely. i have had the cam sensor sorted out a little while ago but these problems have only just recently happened.

Could anyone please point me in the correct direction?

Any help would be appreciated!!

Terry!

Found THIS if it helps?

These two:
P0805 Clutch Position Sensor Circuit Malfunction
P0806 Clutch Position Sensor Circuit Range/Performance

pertain to manual gearboxes .. odd that :surprise:

OP, I’m trying to research your codes in DAS simulation. It asks for a VIN. Would you mind posting that or perhaps send me a PM?

TY. I won’t pretend to know what I’m doing but it’s interesting to try. User info lists UK so I assume RH steering. Also based on year I’m assuming a 16 pin diagnostic port, if in fact the 32 was an upgrade (I have no idea)
lol join the club :)
Other way round Rox, 38 pin OBD1 is the round port under the bonnet (hood) that's found in the earlier pre-FL, 16 pin is the upgraded OBD2

This is an Auto box?
I gathered that, that's why I said it was odd.

It's not unknown for one MB malfunction to throw up several codes and it could well the first one - P0803 1-4 Upshift (Skip Shift) Solenoid Control Circuit Malfunction - that's throwing up the second two. Still odd tho.

Check the pilot bushing for fluid leakage first. If it's wet, check the TCU end too, and replace the bushing. Clean the wiring, and clean the inside of the TCU if that end of the wiring is wet.

Do as efair says, check the pilot bushing for leakage.

What's the mileage on the vehicle?
Do you know if the ATF & filter has ever been changed? Service history?
