I backed my car out of my garage at my new apartment complex and obliterated the drivers side mirror assembly on a brick column. Mirror shattered, turn signal cracked and dislodged, and plastic housing cracked and scratched. Quotes so far have been around $1200 US just for parts.

Can anyone recommend a trustworthy online supplier that may help me bring this price down?

Are these parts generally available painted?

How do I tell if the mirror has the auto-dim feature or not?

Thanks in advance for the help.

I'd check on eBay or similar for good used parts , you might even be able to get them in your colour !
You might even want to take advantage and put some of the newer lookin "Arrow leds " ?

Are these the Arrow LEDs you were talking about, or at least similar?

I looked at a post in the DIY board and it doesn't look to difficult to do. It looks like I can buy those covers and a new mirror and get everything working and looking better than before for under $400. That's a huge savings.

I have ordered the Arrow LEDs butI am having more trouble than anticipated finding the replacement mirror glass. I've searched the forums and have tried the websites suggested with no luck. I'll try body shops in the morning before breaking down a getting one from the dealer unless anyone else has other suggestions? The glass and the plastic housing are both unusable. The original can with the autodim feature which is proving to be the difficult part of the search.

So finally had time to get the new Arrow LED covers on the car yesterday and it looks better than ever. It was surprisingly easy to do especially with the help of a friend who has done work like this on cars before. I'll get some pictures up later today hopefully. Total cost was $450, saving me $600+ when compared to the cheapest quote.

I also have an entire left side mirror assembly, minus the glass, if anyone needs the motor or signal indicator. It came off the wrecked car pictured above. The plastic housing is still in good shape too. I'll post a picture of it later as well.

Thanks for the suggestions!

Drivers Side View Assembly

Here is the driver's side view mirror assembly I have left over from this project. It came off a white 2005 SLK 350. There is no glass. That was the one part I needed but the rest appears to be in good shape. Also note that this assembly does not contain the hook ups for the auto dim feature. I paid $300 for the entire assembly but if someone else could use the parts I will give it to you as long as you can cover the cost of shipping. PM me if interested.
