Can anyone help please? Car, 2005 SLK 350, has started to do some very strange things. SRS light and little red hand brake light flashes up then goes off. When it happens in daylight the headlights come on till it clears (couple of seconds) if the indicators are on they go off, at night if the main beam is on it cuts back to dipped headlights until the SRS/brake lights clear. Passenger window has stopped operating from the driver’s side and the lights on the heater controls, window switches and cockpit lights flicker. Car is driving fine, No limp mode and still sounds awesome on acceleration, fuel consumption good. Have now started to get “inst display faulty” causing a malfunction to come up that resets when the ignition is turned off. We are absolutely miles from a MB dealer

A poor battery can cause a host of electrical issues.
The SLK needs a decent battery in good condition.
The battery can discharge on as little as 3 weeks standing.
Start there.

Faulty SAMs, spilt drinks, water ingress can also cause a host of issues.

The good news is this will likely be one item causing all the issues.

Our electrical folk:
@i860 @Dave2302 @efair @Sneaky Pete will be along soon.

Unfortunately without scanning your car is hard to tell.
If it was scanned what codes would you be looking for?

Welcome to the forum.

if the indicators are on they go off
Which "indicators" do you mean? The two green turn arrows? I believe the "daylight sensor" that controls lights on/off is part of the instrument cluster too. It sounds like your instrucment cluster is having some trouble. The cluster controls brightness of the illumination as well.

Have you done anything with the cigarette lighter in the passenger footwell?

I'd guess your window issue is a completely separate issue.

Its the turn indicators, both inside and out. The only thing we have done to the "cigarette lighter" is plug in a car cam which doesn't flicker or have any issues.

I agree, a DAS scan (or equivalent) looking for issues with the IC would be my next step, along with diagnosis of the switch that's not working.
