Eco Start/Stop

983 Views 9 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  Trev5
Does anyone know what year (if any) that does not include an automatic (ECO) start/stop button for the R172 SLK55 AMG? I owned a 2013 C300 4MATIC that had the feature which I hated having to turn off every time I started it up.

I've been browsing car listings and seen the ECO button on all of the models from 2012-2016. Perhaps they don't exist?

To my understanding all R172 have start stop. If you see eco button, that's start stop.

You can code it out with vediamo, or just disconnect the auxiliary battery, that permanently turns off start stop.

Fitting a Smarttop unit provides the function to toggle the ‘start/stop’ system to driver preference. Allows for the system to be off at start up and can then be switched back on if desired by using the eco button. Essentially the opposite of factory set up.
And obviously all the other benefits of Smarttop can be enjoyed too😎

The "SmartTop" works really well to disable StopStart - It remembers the last setting at switch off (y)

But can switch it back on, which I do sometimes if in stationary traffic, like road works traffic lights...

Early R172 SLK Build 2011-12 do not have factory auxiliary battery fitted, but you can always code it out permanently, or disconnect the auxiliary battery. A simple way is as suggested by others is to install Smarttop, a 110% must have anyway!!! I haven't regretted buying my smart top and it was fun installing it too!

Hope this helps

Check behind the seats at the bottom of the rear firewall hidden behind the carpet.

have you removed it then?
Thank you all for the responses. It seems like Smarttop will be installed on my future 55. Now if I can just figure out how to install it on my current 350…

I know the place it should be behind the passenger seat, but not there...
The Face Lift R172 does have slightly different fuse lay out and not having the Aux battery does "save weight" to fit in with the newer EU - CO2 regulations.... :ROFLMAO:
