I was checking I had the Mercedes Roadside Recovery telephone numbers in my mobile, when I spotted some small print at the bottom of the page:

* Originally first registered in the UK
▲ Cars registered between 24/10/98 – 31/03/08 are covered for technical breakdown only.
~ All cars registered on or after 01/04/08 are covered for technical breakdowns, accident assistance, minor mishap and vandalism/attempted theft.
^ Including both Routine Maintenance and Additional Items.

So even after negotiating a discount on work carried out at my local main dealer, I pay a premium, but am happy to do so mainly because I thought I get free full European Roadside Recovery.

My car was registered September 2007. Makes me feel really wanted. I will ask the main dealer for an exception, but don't hold out much hope. And an independent has opened only a few miles away, hmm.

Anyway, thought I would highlight it in case others are assuming they're fully covered too.

Ps has anybody used these guys, they appear great:

Independent Mercedes-Benz specialist Clevedon, Weston-Super-Mare and Bristol

Russ, your car will still be covered for "technical breakdown" (assuming you maintain the MB maintenance history). :)
