It just started like a few weeks ago. As I was drving home one night all of sudden both dome lights came on by themselves! I couldn't shut either of them off by pressing the dome light switch by the rear view mrror. The lights are always on whether the engine is running or not, whether the key is in the igntion or not and whether door is closed or not. If it was the switch by the door, it would sound the chime bell with the ignition key in the place, but it doesn't. So, I ruled out the possible door switch issue. Right now I'm just driving with the dome light bulbs both removed which is a lot of hassle in night time.
Would this be a case of faulty dome light switch on the ceiling that somehow became stuck at 'always on' position?
If you have any idea/suggestion I should try, please let me know.
Thanks.

Can you (or anyone else) can explain how a faulty PSE can cause this symptom - always on dome lights? I just can't image a scenario or mechanism of the failure.

Thanks.
How about:
pse controls door locks
if it thinks the door is not closed/locked, the light stays on
just as if you are holding the door open
