Hi all,

This time I'm retrofitting electric seats on my car.

I already have airscarf and heated seats, but I came across a couple of AMG seats that I'm going to disassemble and use the electric adjustment mechanism.

I'm not using the AMG seats as I like to keep things looking original...

Hopefully I have identified the correct cable harness and the job will be straight forward.

For now I'm waiting for the parts.

I'll post photos and details of the process soon.

It IS straight forward. I've done the same on my previous SLK. If the buttons and control modules for heated seat and airscarf in place it should be a breeze. The only thing that may act up are the airbags on the outer sides of the backrest frame. Obviously the system needs some error clearing afterwards because of the airbag disconnects.

The cable harness has arrived!

PN: A171 540 95 07 price €48.60+VAT

It's all complete with fuses and all.

There are only two plugs that I have to investigate where they are going, I suppose they may connect to the electric steering column (that I'm not instaling... for now).

This install should be really straight forward as JudgeMing pointed, I already have Airscarf and Heated Seats so all the buttons are in place.

JudgeMing did the memory for the rearview mirror (wile reversing) worked?

The two 'extra' plugs are square and 4 pin each if I remember correctly and they go into the motors of the electric steering adjustment. Unplugged they will result in DAS errors for the steering wheel which cannot be helped. I attached (just) the motors and than the error changes into another code (out of alignment or so). Only the full monty will resolve these errors. On fleabay there are sellers with the electric steering wheel parts. I've seen them as cheap as 120 EUR. Install requires some gusto since the part that actually operates the hydraulic motor that turns the wheels is also 'fixed' to this set up.

The 'parking' mirror already worked without the electric chairs if you set the memory function 'on' in DAS and have the correct mirrors and mirror switch.

I have assembled the seats and everything went as planed.

I want to thank Vinnypt for is help on this process as we did this retrofit on both our cars.

The process is pretty straight forward.

The steps are as follows:

1- Open the roof
2- Disconnect the negative battery contact
3- Release the seats, undoing the 4 torx bolts on each seat
4- Remove the seatbelts from the seats, undoing the Torx bolt on the side of the seat
5- Disconnect the existing plugs underneath the seat
6- Remove the seats from the car
7- Disassemble the center console
8- Disassemble the door seals
9- Place the new cable harness underneath the carpet starting from the driver side, respecting the colored tape markers, going on to the passenger’s side
10- Connect the fuse supports to the fuse box on the driver side
11- Reassemble the new seats in the reverse order
12- Connect Star and code the car and normalize the seats

There will be an error on DAS because I don’t have the electric column but it doesn’t show on the cluster.

The next steps are the memory electric rearview mirrors. I already have the motors with potentiometer needed but now I have to find the correct plug and terminals to do a costume cable harness as Mercedes only sells the entire mirror.

Congrats!

You have to admit, this can be done in three hours and is not the most difficult job at all. Just need the proper wiring harness, control modules and STAR access.

Next thing: lumbar adjustment. That will prove more tricky!

It's rewarding when these seemingly 'huge' jobs turn out to be pretty straight forward and go as planned ...

Wow, congrats!

Is it easy to just detach the electronic seat adjuster? Mine seem to be broken, and the plastic tab seems to be falling off. Need to find an ebay part to replace it.

So. If I get the Motors to my rearview mirrors, Do I must get some cable Harness to?

And.... If I get the entire mirrors with memory and Electric Folding?
Do I need the cable harness for those?

No wiring harness needed to have the mirror dip when parking. The harness is already in place. It's a four pin plug in the door.

The connection on the memory motors is different from the standard ones, it's a 8 pin connector with 7 pin populated.

Mercedes doesn't sell a cable harness for the mirrors, the only option is to buy a new mirror or make the harness yourself.

I'm going to try this last option!

I'm in the process of identifying the connector plug and crimping terminals.

Nice write up an pictures. I just bought a set of power, heated, muticontour, airscarf seats. The power part looks easy enough, 12 V from the IP fuse box and a ground. I'm stumped on the multi coutour (air) part. I got most of the floor wiring harness from the donor car. I have the air lines from the seats; but the other end is cut off. Anyone know where the air pump is located, and where it's powered from? Is the airscarf self contained within the seats? I got the switch panel with the heated and airscarf switches. Again, have the connectors for the seats for the seat control module; but the harness is cut off before it gets to the switch panel. Connector P/N and pinouts for the heated and airscarf switches? Are the seat heaters controlled only by the switches, or is there a relay/control module in between? I appreciate any input, Brent

The seat ECU behind the rear panel carpet need changing for one that supports Airscarf (and seat heaters if you're fitting those too)- the wiring from the front fusebox goes back to this.

The Airscarf blowers are in the seats, and there is a loom from the seat heater ECU back to the seats -no need to wire anything to the switches as they send CAN signals and they are already connected to the network. You'll need coding to tell the car that the extra's are there ..

No experience on the air part - assume this is the lumbar support ..?

Wiring diagram and function schematic attached for reference ....

Sean, Thanks so much for the diagrams. I'm not quite clear on something. Is the seat ECU/seat heater ECU the same module; and if so, is it N25/7 on the wiring diagram? I have the complete loom from the donor car; but when I had the seats/carpets out during the NAV install, I noticed some 'giveaway' looms under the seats. I didn't take pics; but am wondering if these are prewire for either the heated seats or airscarf. Guess I'll see when I get into it again. (Sure wish I would have had these seats when I did the NAV!) Yes the air pump is for the lumbar (multicontour) support. I think the breaker may still have this part from the donor. Seems like it mounts under the passenger seat. Thanks, again. Brent

Forgot to ask in my earlier post; did you use A1718201626 or A1719010100 to replace the seat ECU? Thanks, Brent
