Hi, I'm not sure if it has been documented here how a crank pulley of the "add on" type is installed? Anyway I shot some pictures while I installed it that I can share. The procedure wasn't complicated.

In short this is how I did it (right or wrong) ;):
  1. Remove the fan if you need the extra space
  2. Use a Torx E10 to loosen the belt tension. Remove the belt.
  3. Clean the original crank pulley.
  4. Attach the add on pulley.
  5. Tighten the screws a little bit at the time "diagonally and round, and make sure that the pulley is in its inner most position against the original pulley. Tighten the screws "enough". ;)
  6. Attach the new belt. Use a Torx E10 to loosen the belt tension and slip the belt on.
  7. Carefully check that the belt is positioned correctly on all pulleys.
  8. Install the fan.
  9. Just start and stop the motor and listen for bad sounds and after check the the belt is in position and that the pulley is still correctly and firmly attached.
Perhaps someone has more input, but this is how I did it. Maybe someone will find it useful! :)

Little info needed

Great description and pictures. Thinking of doing this also. Couple questions, how many miles are on your 99 slk, did you update or change your ecu, and did you notice a difference in your power and performance? Thanks Bill98

My SLK has been on the road for 140 000 km. I have an new chip for the ECU that shall be soldered, but I haven't done it yet. Regarding performance I will have to wait for the snow to go away first, so it is 2-3 months to wait first. :)

Hi, I took her out for a test run today. And yeah, it was nice! Can't really say that I remember exactly how she was last autumn, but this spring is gong to be really nice!

The acceleration was even up to about 4000 rpm, where there was a slight loss of acceleration, but the again it took off all the way up to the red. Reached 200 km/hour fast and without effort. I am pleased. Think I will start with cleaning the maf.
