Hi All

I've joined as I bought a R171 200K. Before that I had a 204 C220 coupe, which was a disappointment after my W203 Sport Coupe and the Volvos inbetween. So as I didn't need the size I replaced it with the latest version of the 203 platform I could find, a 171. The car I found is a bit of an unusual spec as it has Xenons and park sensors, but nothing else, I think it may originally have been a Mercedes UK demonstrator. It also came with one other extra - a paddling pool in the spare wheel well. However with the help of the forum posts here I think I may have solved it, I'll check again tomorrow as it got a good dousing on Thursday in the rain that didn't turn into snow.

I'm in the process of upgrading the stereo, the new unit is in and everything apart from FM works. I looking into checking the amplifier was powered by the new loom, but it wasn't the problem. In fact the original unit doesn't receive FM anymore.

Thanks for the help so far and hope I can return the favour.

Thanks

Todd

Hi Todd, and welcome to SLKWorld.com from the UK Midlands - Thanks for joining us and posting an intro! :)

We have quite a few members in the UK that like to meet up from time to time, although things tend to be a little quieter during the winter months. If you're interested in joining us sometime, just keep an eye on the UK Region section, as we post meeting plans there (including the South West breakfast meet that Myk has already mentioned)! :tu:

There is a summary post that I maintain for our UK meets ( here ). Links to examples and pictures from last year's meets are available here. We're a friendly group, and always happy to welcome new members at any of our meets.

Finally, we also recently started plotting where our UK members are - check out the thread for that here: SLKWorld UK & Ireland Members and Meeting Points Map

Thank you

Hi All

Thanks for making me welcome.

I thought I'd risk a look under the spare wheel yesterday to prove to myself how well I'd done fixing the leak. Unfortunately there was still some water and the source wasn't from an obvious direction. It seemed to be coming from the front edge of the spare compartment. So I removed the trim panel covering the front bulkhead and the attached photo shows signs of water having sat for a while. I was trying to work out how it could be getting there.

However later in the day after drying and reassembling I may have stumbled on a more elementary cause of the water ingress. As I opened the wet bootlid, water cascaded off it, bouncing off the rear screen and straight over the boot seal. Where the boot partition directed it away to where it could quite easily end up on the front edge of the floor. So it looks like I'll be back to cleaning water off the bootlid, like I used to when I had Ford Puma.

No signs of water ingress today, although it's been a bit wet and dark to pull the boot apart and investigate properly.

Todd

p.s. I'll add this to a more appropriate thread

Welcome from Madrid....

For your FM problem check fuse 8 in the rear SAM as you may have blown it on installation or due to your water problem.

Thanks, whilst I had the trim out I checked the fuse and it looked fine, didn't use my multimeter though, so I'll give it a proper check in the morning.
