Has anyone broken down the cost per HP gain that you have added to your car?

A pulley kit for my car is around $600.
It should be a 20hp gain.

That's $30 per hp. Is that a good price for hp gain?

Do the sums!

SLK200 184bhp £26,670 = £145/hp
SLK280 230bhp £32,535 = £141/hp
SLK350 305bhp £36,855 = £121/hp
SLK55 360bhp £51,975 = £144/hp

upgrade SLK200 > SLK280 = £127/hp
upgrade SLK200 > SLK350 = £84/hp
upgrade SLK200 > SLK55 = £144/hp

upgrade SLK280 > SLK350 = £58/hp
upgrade SLK280 > SLK55 = £150/hp

upgrade SLK350 > SLK55 = £275/hp

Conclusion: buy / upgrade to an SLK350 - best bang for your buck.

Nice info....

I was thinking more along the lines of adding up all the mods you have done to your car to gain HP, (Air filters, pulley kits, mufflers, etc.) and dividing that by the HP you have gained.

What is your cost per HP?

$30/hp is great. I would take 100 hp for $3,000 at that rate. I do the same thing for weight reduction. Cost per pound. I haven't found anything cheaper than losing some weight around my waist!! Just eat less. It essentially pays me to reduce weight!! For most mods, I don't have a firm hp figure. So there's a lot of estimates.
