New here, just registered. Been reading quite a bit. Not new to forums, just this one. Used to own my own truck forum before I lost interest and moved on with my life. When I find a link to fill out my sig, I gladly will.

I'm located on the gulf coast of Florida and just picked up a 2000 SLK 230 for my wife for Christmas. I've been looking at those for close to a year and wanted a 99-2004-ish car with low miles. She wanted something "fun and sporty, and convertible."

56k miles, one owner from Sarasota (72 years old), clean title, no crashes, and overall a pretty clean and I'm excited to start making this thing ours.

I drive a high 12 second 5.7L Challenger and my wife has a Silverado. We own some acreage and she's got horses.

My plans are an HID conversion, with some decent projectors at some point. I don't know how these factory halogen lights are. I'm assuming they suck. I'd like to put in some nice LED fog bulbs and I've had great luck with in my car. Lighting upgrades are important to me. We're out in the country so dark roads are routine for us.

The stock radio is garbage and the volume control doesn't work so I will be replacing that here probably first. So I need to find out if a head unit will require an additional harness or not. I'll read up.

My plan is to keep this more or less stock, but I know how I'am, because I have an addiction. I don't plan on any performance mods though. I will however put in a couple air filters and call it a day in that department.

Anyways, I'll read the sticky threads and find my information there. Glad to be here.

http://www.slkworld.com/u-s-florida/286977-picture-thread-fall-florida-picnic-oct-10-2015-a.html

Some tips to make your visit here more enjoyable:
If you haven’t, please use the 'search' feature at the top right of the page for your questions as they have probably been asked before. Remember, ‘Search’ is your friend.
If you wish to become PM (Private Message) capable, you need 15 posts. To get those 15 posts quickly, just go to the ‘New members introduce yourself here’ section and welcome enough new members to obtain your needed posts to PM.
Want to post a picture? Start a new thread or make a post, click ‘edit’, click on the ‘paper clip’ or ‘advanced’ and/or ‘manage attachments’ then ‘choose file’ then ‘upload’ and ‘submit’! If Iphone pics, you need to rename any additional pics as Iphone names its pics all the same, image.jpg.
Want to ‘like’ or thank’ someone’s comments? Use the ‘like’ button to the right or the ‘Thanks’ button, bottom right of any post you like. This saves you having to comment.
New members should be aware that the 'New Posts' link next to the 'Search' link top right of the info bar is a great way to see all of the posts you have missed since you were on the forum last. Remember to click 'mark forums read' under ‘quick links’ when you leave.
Post your vin in the Vehicle Datacard Request section to get a free datacard (options on your car). You must update your profile with vehicle info and your location and post an introduction first.

Welcome from Wiltshire, UK.

Looks like you've got a really tidy 170 there; I wish someone would buy me an SLK for Christmas!

Man, your Challenger is awesome. Definitely the best looking of the modern day American muscle cars.

Thank you sir. I've got a TON of money in it, mostly electronic, stopping, and go fast goodies. It's fast, sounds good, and still gets 25mpg high when I want it to.

Many wouldn't believe it but I only paid $5300 for the SLK. It was almost too good to be true.
