Hello everyone,

I started a thread about a month ago regarding my Check engine light coming on.

The mercedes specialist replaced the secondary air valve and upstream O2 sensor.

It was fine for about 2-3 days then the light come back on and it seems that i have lost power when changing through the gears. I have also stalled a couple of times when pulling away (Not down to my driving ..lol..)

:soap:

What else can it be ?

The parts and labour are guaranteed for a year so what can i say to the garage ???

Its due for MOT next month and needs a service.

Thanks alot for any help....

:tu:

You need to get the code read and see what it says. MAF maybe?

No not yet mate. Haven't had a chance to get to the garage. Are there any checks that you know that maybe I could do ?

A couple more points regarding my mobile agony at the moment !!

When i put my foot down in any gear, it feels as if it hits a brick wall and no extra power seems to get through. (Am i expecting too much from a 2 litre ??)

Also when accelerating (stalled a few times) and changing gears its jumpy and hesitant.

Like i say i have had the secondary air valve and upstream O2 sensor replaced.

Someone mentioned the MAF ??
What about a good service would help ? (Chaning spark plugs, oil change etc)

Cheers

New plugs are always a plus but without a code it could be almost anything. Try and clean the MAF often times its dirty and needs a good cleaning.

Couldn't that be a limp mode to protect the car from the problems you're having with the check engine light ?
Have these problems only surfaced since the garage worked on your car ?

It may be a stupid question, but where is the MAF ?
How would i remove and clean it ?

The car really lost a lot of power when the CEL came on the first time. They hooked the car up and said the o2 and secondary valve need replacing which they have done. A week or 2 later it has come back on!

Now it feels as if there is not enough power when i put my foot right down and also when pulling away and in 2nd gear its really jumpy.

Previous to me buying the car had sat in a yard for nearly 6 months without moving....

Any ideas ?

Thanks for your advice so far...

You can check if it's a MAF problem,

Unplug it ( take the electric plug off ) and try to drive the car ( not too far from home ) to see if there is any difference.

Is it safe to test the MAF by unplugging the plug and taking a short drive ? i say this as it will save the trouble of taking the MAF off !!

Also just a bit more information on the running of the car. It seems the main problem is in the mornings or when starting up. Changing into 2nd gear gives the car a jumpy and hesitant effect....

the check engine light is still on.

Any more ideas guys ?

I also checked the K40 for any broken solders but nothing wrong at all..

Now seems like the only problem is when starting up in the morning. Struggles to get into second gear and acceleration seems rough and jumpy. Seems as if once the car gets going its perfect through the gears. Would an air filter change help ?

Stupid question, but how would i access the air filter ? Pics would be great
