Hi,

After I replace the Audio 50 with android S160 I have two problems that, I heard, require a tweak in some cluster configuration. Can you tell me please what parameters I need to change? I'm visiting a dealer soon and he said he can help with STAR though he does not know about the right parameters (settings).

The problems:

System clock, analog: it can't be changed/adjusted from the new unit. It can't be changed either from the steering wheel or the MFD

Information in MFD about Navigation, Bluetooth, Telephon, is almost nothing or empty, only showing in the top left corner: NAVI, BT, Telephon. Is this normal? Can be improved with some tuning of the onboard information?

If you can tell me what to change I will inform this dealer and hopefully we can fix the issue (at least the analog clock)

Thanks a lot.

How does your owners manual say to do it? Just a guess, you may have to connect factory radio up, and "unsynchronize" them, then set from MFD.
On my downloaded on, pages 116,133,134

Hi thanks for your answer. Well, I can't find how to unsynchronize the APS 50. I've read quickly the manual and nothing. Did you have also the APS 50? I heard only about this unsynchronization for the Comand.

In some thread I saw something like going to:

Control modules > Communications > instrument cluster > Control Unit adaptions > Optional equipment >

And set:

Comand = NOT PRESENT
SOUND SYSTEM = PRESENT
TELEPHONE = PRESENT

I have factory COMAND with Navigation (NTG1?), did you check page 134 on setting clock?

Pioneer4x4: I dont have COMAND, I have the APS 50, are you referring to a manual for Comand?

JBanks15 thanks, datacard? I have no idea what it is, sorry what do you mean? I have the Audio APS 50 with the AGW using fiber optics, no harman kardon. Both devices were removed, now I'm not using fiber optics anymore. The internal configuration could still be saying I have the Audio 50 APS in the loop.

Haha... the car is from 2006 but it's a good idea to know all options! Imagine that there is a diamond behind the steering wheel??

I dont know the VIN right now I will find it later in the documentation, I hope.

Where to find your vin number?
Insurance paperwork, bill of sale.
On vehicle, bottom of windshield, trunk/boot lid near rear windshield, bottom of rear bumper, door plate.

Hi there

The options to change the clock can be added to the settings menu on the upper MFD, but you'll need developer mode DAS to do this (it's basically enabling one of the menu items) - I've never looked into the other way of doing it, but that maight also do the trick.

Be aware that most dealers don't have developer mode DAS.

Standard aftermarket headunits tend to come with steering wheel control interfaces, not display interfaces, so normally you retain the use of the steering wheel buttons, but loose the displays . There are a couple of manufacturers that do the display integration (Alpine being one of them) - you'll have to check with the supplier of the S160 to see of a different interface is available / needed

Thanks for the answer, very useful. Let's imagine the dealer had the developer mode, then, do you know where is this hidden option? For the MFD, yes I will ask the manufacturer

I'd get them to enable Menu items 13, 14 and 19 for the clock stuff (they are in the developer mode variant coding section)

I bought my SLK with a Alpine aftermarket radio/instigation unit installed. The clock was incorrect and I couldn't set it until I turned off the radio. Then I could set it using the procedure in the manual.

Solved

Hi guys,

I'm happy to announce that the problem is solved. Now I can adjust the time from the steering wheel controls. Solution is about changing one setting with the SDS, the technician told me that inside the instrument cluster sections there is a setting for time, it was set to Automatic, now is set to Manual.

After this change the setting for time appeared in the MFD as option (it was not there before), so now I can set the time and date to what I want.

I know some other people may be like me, in this case I suggest them to go to a Mercedes dealer of confidence. They can do it in 10 min. No necessary developer mode (in fact officially mercedes cannot use this method in the shops, this is what I've been told)

I did it in Germany, and I was very lucky. The technician, who was doing this change for the first time, did it completely free for me, no cost.

Best Regards.
Ray.

Have you read the manual yet?
Hi, yes I read the manual but I could not find anything like that. This is not Comand btw. The APS 50 changes the time within the UI, if you remove the APS 50 you can't change time. But I solved the problem changing a setting with the SDS to manual time setting. Now time setting appears in the MFD.
