So I've ordered my discs and want new pads to fit when I get them on. After a long hunt I cannot get a definitive answer to what ceramic pad will fit a 2006 SLK55 with 340mm discs and 6 piston calipers. I'm not too keen on Red Stuff by EBC as I've heard too many neggy reviews. Ideally I'd get Ferodo/ATE/Pagid or some other well know and rated brand.

Why not original MB? My second choice would be Brembo since the original disks and pads are propably Brembo to.
I'm looking to fit pads that give off less dust, and for this ceramic pads seem to be the way to go. In addition the dust from ceramics is supposed to be easier to get off when it (the dust) does appear on the alloys. The stock pads that are fitted have the wheels coated in dust after 10-20 miles.

Akebono don't do pads for the calipers I've got or I'd give them a try. I can get ATE front pads part no 13.0460-4806.2 but there is no reference to the material used in their construction which leads me to believe they are the usual organic/metallic.

The hunt continues . . .

I’ve had EBC red stuff pads on both of my 55s. They are a very clean pad and in normal driving conditions they are more than adequate.
When driving aggressively for prolonged periods I managed to get my brakes so hot that the fluid boiled and I had complete brake failure. For this reason I’m back on standard pads!

My eyes, my eyes...... 🤓
Get that centre star sorted and ensure your nuts are in the correct order.... 😎
Locking nut opposite side to the valve and one point of your star pointing at the valve. 😍

That's the kind of info I was looking for. I'm not a particularly aggressive driver but the thought of brake failure for the sake of aesthetics is a no brainer. I'll fit Brembo P50092 pads. This will also keep the pad/disc combo the same and oem spec.

Hawk makes a Yellow pad that will also fit. I have them sitting at home ready to go on mine, but things keep breaking around the house taking all my time.

Brembo P50092 pads ordered now, a reasonable £58.00 with free delivery from Amazon. That gives a total price of a shade over £500 for new oem Brembo two piece floating discs and new oem Brembo pads. The most expensive brake renew I've ever done and yet I think it is a bargain price compared to the stories of £2000 plus at the MB dealer. Thanks for all the input. I'll update once they are all fitted and tried.

Brembo site says P50053N and doesn't even have a P50092 on it? Just wanting to make sure you have the right thing coming as there is a lot of misinformation out there for our cars and the 6 pot calipers.

I think the patent or rights may have expired so they can be sold cheaper?
Maybe I'm talking rubbish? 🤓

It says these are the equivalent of part no A0054203920 which is the number on the parts pdf for my chassis no as supplied by JSBanks.

I also referenced this

Brembo are the best in my opinion.
P50 092 is the Brembo part number.
I did try some Padgid but they lack the initial bite so I took them off and replaced with the above.
Try Autodoc
Always confirm they will fit your car before purchase, Autodoc may even phone you to confirm?
Screen shot is only for reference.

P 50 092 is from 2004

Less then £500,- for two disks is not bad. I see one Brembo floating 2-piece disk for EUR 486,- sure got 2?

Yes, deffo ordered two at £226.43 each. Here is a bit of the text from my invoice.

"You have ordered the following goods:
Position Article № Description of the product Quantity Price per unit GBP Total price in GBP
1. 09.9254.33 Brake Disc 2 226,43 452,86
2. Safe Order 1 3,95 3,95
Subtotal: £ 452,86
Delivery: £ 0,00
incl. 20% VAT £ 76,14

Total amount: £ 456,81"
Google Brembo part no 09.9254.33 and you'll see Opie are selling them for £835.99 each!

Link: Brake Disc BREMBO TWO-PIECE FLOATING DISCS LINE 09.9254.33 Internally Vented, Slotted / Perforated, Two-piece Brake Disc, Coated, High-carbon, with screws — Buy now! but they have increased in price since my purchase, they are now £261.11. Still a good price for oem items.
