As I drag my time-ravaged body towards its inevitable demise, I find that I am not able to carry out my own servicing on my cars, having to pay those fitter and more knowledgeable to do so. My SLK320 is new to me and whilst I enjoy reading as much as I can about it, I still know next-to-nothing about its layout.

I would prefer it to be looked after by a small garage in the same way I would rather buy my groceries at a local shop than a massive supermarket, where I can develop a relationship with the staff there rather than with an impersonal dealership, or an enthusiast who enjoys working on vehicles and treats them as if it were their own.

Does anyone know of such a garage where my car/s can be looked after in the Heathrow/Middlesex/Surrey (UK) area.

Hi, I'm also in the same area and got a 350 a few months ago. As I don't have a garage, I'll need a local Indy when it comes to main servicing.
I860 recommended an Indy in reading for the coding I needed and they sound like they know what they're doing plus have reasonable prices.

Might be a bit far out for general servicing so will be interested if anyone else has a recommendation nearer home.

Mercedes vehicle specialists in Reading by Star Motor Service Ltd

Hi Mike, for me Reading would be too far. Hopefully someone will come up with an alternative.

I see you have a GT6. I used to have one in the mid-80's, a Mk.1 which I loved, could turn on a sixpence (dated coin reference)

I guessed Reading might be a bit far and the only other Indy I know in this area is 'Colin Ferns' in Richmond but they wanted £150 just to do the coding where as Star wanted £35, so I think their prices are a bit steep :surprise:

As for the GT6, it was the first car I every owned (while a student) but was in a VERY poor state with a bent chassis and the roof had been removed with a can opener by a previous owner!! So in the early 80's, I rebuilt it with a spitfire body...

A great fun car along with the SLK

Mercedes medics in Woking are good. Have not used them yet but my regular car taxi uses them and swears by them.... I know a little far from Heathrow but not too bad....

Woking would be probably as far as I'd want to go but I'll certainly have a look into them. Many thanks.
