I recently has a oil leak from the camshaft magnet cover on my 2002 slk,which is now sealed with the aid of silicon,which also has a stopper fitted on the wiring loom,what i want to know is should there be oil in the end of the cam with it being electrics?

The leaking camshaft magnet is common with these cars. I had to replace mine a couple of years ago, its a cheap part from the dealer and takes 10 min. to install. When you remove the old one clean the surface (engine side) good, put a small amount of high temp silicon on the surface and install your part. Your plug connection if i remember is at the 10 Oclock position to prevent oil from leaking into the wire loom, have a look for signs of oil in the plug anyway.
